Not enough bloggin time!

As I only work part-time I'm finding it difficult to set enough time aside during my week to do the course. Over the Easter break I spent time with my fourteen year old nephew and his fifteen year old friend. I could not have had better exposure to the necessity of completing this course. The boys are using all the internet features we are learning about and I discovered that I now understood, at least a part of, their teenage language. Technology is providing a new generation with different skills and abilities. I am being left behind and realise that my two year old will need her mum to help her with her homework in the future, so this course is not only improving my work skills but also my general knowledge.

Lifelong learning

The notion that the web is the answer to all our information needs is a fallacy. Sometimes I believe that the internet as a reference site is used in the first instance too often. I read in a librarian's blog that they wouldn't know what to do without the internet. It must be incumbent on everyone to not only to be proficient with the new technologies but we must maintain and increase our own general knowledge.
